Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of What the Cat Dragged In by Kate McMurray。 I've voluntarily read and reviewed this。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 In What the Cat Dragged In we meet Paige Danvers。 Paige is a working at the Whitman Street Cat Café where she manages the events。 One night while volunteering at an animal shelter she meets Josh。 They hit it off and spend the night together。 The morning after she discovers that Josh is in fact Lauren's brother。 Lauren as i Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of What the Cat Dragged In by Kate McMurray。 I've voluntarily read and reviewed this。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 In What the Cat Dragged In we meet Paige Danvers。 Paige is a working at the Whitman Street Cat Café where she manages the events。 One night while volunteering at an animal shelter she meets Josh。 They hit it off and spend the night together。 The morning after she discovers that Josh is in fact Lauren's brother。 Lauren as in her best friend Lauren en also her boss Lauren。 Will Paige try to make it work or will she walk away and minimize the risk of juggling love and friendship? Unfortunately I didn't enjoy What the Cat Dragged In as much as I thought I would。 The premise is cute but the story is very predictable。 I also couldn't really connect with the main characters because I found that they lacked depth and their backstory wasn't really revealed。 Even so it's a fast-paced read。 So if you enjoy a quick romance story, then you can definitely check this one out。 。。。more

My Review: I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley, the following is my honest review and opinion。 First off, how has no one been bringing this book up to me? It has cats and romance! Secondly, it is the second book in the series! How have none of you told me about a romance series set in a cat cafe? I am so disappointed in all my book friends right now! Anyway, on with the review, besides the adorable cover and title, the story inside was just as adorable。 I really enjoyed the characters and how even though they are in two totally different industries of work, they both struggle to find a work/life balance, something many people can relate to in their own lives。 The attraction and steam in this one is nearly instant, but the romance and relationship itself simmers nicely, building off conversations, rescue cats and city adventures。 You don't need to have read the first book in the series to enjoy this one but the relationships introduced in the first book are continued in this one so it would be nice to be familiar with all of them。 I, for one, will be going back and picking up the first book and will be following this series avidly as it continues! 。。。more

What the Cat Dragged In is the 2nd book in the Whitman Street Cat Cafe series。 It was a very cute forbidden romance。 I had not read the 1st book in the series but was able to understand the friendships and the group without it。 I enjoyed this book and the characters so I did go back and listen to the 1st book in the series as well。 Overall, a fun romance book with the Cat Cafe in Brooklyn as a backdrop。 Lots of NYC references, specifically Brooklyn, but other boroughs as well。

[ARC REVIEW] Cute Rom-com! Paige and Josh had great chemistry and were a joy to read about。 Love a good happily ever after! This was a sweet, and funny light read, loved it!

More reviews (and no fluff) on the blog http://surrealtalvi。wordpress。com/I enjoyed What The Cat Dragged In: it wasn't a perfect read but the plot flowed smoothly and easily and the main characters were likable。 I did not know this was the second book in a series until going to write this review so this is definitely something you do not need to have read the first book in order to enjoy。 I listened to the audio version and the narrator was excellent。Story: Paige Danvers works at a cat cafe More reviews (and no fluff) on the blog http://surrealtalvi。wordpress。com/I enjoyed What The Cat Dragged In: it wasn't a perfect read but the plot flowed smoothly and easily and the main characters were likable。 I did not know this was the second book in a series until going to write this review so this is definitely something you do not need to have read the first book in order to enjoy。 I listened to the audio version and the narrator was excellent。Story: Paige Danvers works at a cat cafe organizing marketing events to keep the business successful。 But outside of her work, her love life is a mess。 Nearing 30, she has gone on a long string of fruitless dates and just can't seem to find the right guy。 Until she volunteers at a cat TNR night (trap, neuter, return) to help curb the unwanted kitten population。 There she meets the incredibly sexy but nice lawyer Josh Harlow and they spend the night together with hot sex。 But then Paige finds a picture of Josh with her best friend and boss Lauren - who turns out to be Josh's sister。 Paige knows Lauren will not take it well that she is sleeping with her brother; but at the same time, she is very intrigued by Josh。Most of the story can be frustrating: it's a one note of a rather non important conflict of Lauren not wanting Paige to date her brother。 It felt a bit odd since most best friends I've known would go nuts to have a best friend turn into a sister in law。 As well, it is hard to make Lauren look sympathetic when she knows Paige is a great person for Josh and Josh would be good to Paige。 It felt like artificial melodrama to have Paige constantly try to dump Josh because of Lauren (who was the heroine of the previous book in the series)。That said, it is a smooth and easy book to follow and neither character is dumb。 Paige and Josh are hard working good people just trying to find their way in the world。 The setting is NYC and there was definitely a NYC vibe that could be felt throughout。If I really had a complaint, it is that the cat cafe and the animal side of the story really didn't play all that much into the story。 Paige and Josh are oddly afraid of stray cats and make a lot of remarks about being mauled that felt odd rather than funny。 There was no real love of cats at all。 I would have liked more on that side of the story。I listened to the Audio narration and the narrator did an excellent job with the voices and acting。 I highly recommend the audio version for that reason。 Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher。 。。。more

When I first read the except for this book I thought it would be something I would like, something I would enjoy so I decided to give it a shot。 Now, don’t get me wrong the story is good, the storyline is good but it just didn’t do it for me。 I found myself bored and not really connecting to the book which ended with me skimming chapters to get to the end。 The characters were all special in their own way and I absolutely adored that the story was surrounded by a kitty cafe, I love those places。 When I first read the except for this book I thought it would be something I would like, something I would enjoy so I decided to give it a shot。 Now, don’t get me wrong the story is good, the storyline is good but it just didn’t do it for me。 I found myself bored and not really connecting to the book which ended with me skimming chapters to get to the end。 The characters were all special in their own way and I absolutely adored that the story was surrounded by a kitty cafe, I love those places。 It’s a cute story but just not one that could keep my attention。 。。。more

Cute story。 Plot line is kind of slow in spots but I didn’t mind it at all。 I fell in love with the characters and cheered for them to be together as both of their situations were relatable。 Overall good read。

I enjoyed this audiobook- the narrator did a great job! This one at the end I just wanted them to talk way more! But its a cute one with closed door steam。A lot of cats :) and loved all the Jane Austen names。

I listened to the audio version and liked this book。 I did not realize it is part of a series。 This book stood perfectly well on its own。 Enjoyed the cat cafe and the couple meeting as feral cat trapping volunteers。 I enjoyed the romance and the interplay between the two main characters。 There seems to be something wrong with the timeline of the story。 The woman apparently had a corporate job for 10 years and she graduated from college。 I assume she got the corporate job after graduation, yet sh I listened to the audio version and liked this book。 I did not realize it is part of a series。 This book stood perfectly well on its own。 Enjoyed the cat cafe and the couple meeting as feral cat trapping volunteers。 I enjoyed the romance and the interplay between the two main characters。 There seems to be something wrong with the timeline of the story。 The woman apparently had a corporate job for 10 years and she graduated from college。 I assume she got the corporate job after graduation, yet she is 28 years old。 She gave it all up to work in a cat cafe as an events planner。 How long has she been working there maybe a year at the least? Unless this woman graduated from college at 16 or 17 years old, the timeline fails。 Things like this annoy me because the author did not bother to work through her own story to determine if it makes sense。 Maybe the editor (if there was one) missed it too? Maybe I missed something? Another plot hole is the enormous amount of angst the female lead invested in dating her boss's brother。 BTW, her boss is also "one of her best friends", a fact that was reiterated a few too many times。 If this woman is so worried about dating her boss's brother, why is she working for her best friend? That is the more potentially disastrous situation。 No mention of this at all in the story。 I am able to suspend disbelief to a point; however, these two issues create a conflict that undermined the story for me。 If you like romance and can overlook stupid problems, this is a fun book。 Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Cute as a kitten modern RomCom filled with cats in a cat café setting! I love that Paige named most of the cats in the café after Jane Austen characters。 It couldn’t get any cuter。 This is a very light-hearted romance novel that’s pretty enjoyable。 I thought the chemistry between Paige & Josh were natural and sweet。 Paige’s character was really invested in her friends, so I enjoyed their interactions together but towards the 2nd half I was over the drama that wasn’t really drama? What the Cat Dragged In by Kate McMurrayI found this book to be mildly annoying。 It seemed to be trying to be Sex in the City for a new generation with a bit of Friends thrown in。 I did not really like any of the main characters but Josh was slightly better than Paige and Lauren。 Lauren was the worst as a bossy older sister。 Even her mother said so。 I did like the cats and the gay friend was entertaining but a bit of a stereotype。 The sex was fairly explicit but also kind of cringingly not sexy。 What the Cat Dragged In by Kate McMurrayI found this book to be mildly annoying。 It seemed to be trying to be Sex in the City for a new generation with a bit of Friends thrown in。 I did not really like any of the main characters but Josh was slightly better than Paige and Lauren。 Lauren was the worst as a bossy older sister。 Even her mother said so。 I did like the cats and the gay friend was entertaining but a bit of a stereotype。 The sex was fairly explicit but also kind of cringingly not sexy。My pet peeve, sorry could not resist, was the use of the word pet instead of petted as the past tense。 I had to look this up and it is coming into common usage but I found it sounded wrong and because there are cats in the story, they say it a lot。 The narrator of thiis audiobook was good。Thanks to Netgalley for this early listen。 。。。more

This was such a cute read! I love the best friend’s brother trope and this was a fun iteration of it! I enjoyed that both main characters has some personal growth that they needed to achieve before they could come together as a couple。 And I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t enjoy the cat cafe backdrop and all the fur baby time on the page!

Rating 3。5/5In what the cat dragged in we follow Paige Danvers, an event manager with zero luck in the romance department, and Josh Harlow, a newly graduated lawyer who is trying to take off in his new career。The first half of the book I absolutely adored。 I must admit, though, I am a fan of a good insta-love story。 And that is definitely what this was。 From the time Paige and Josh looked at each other, they were lost。 However, with most stories where the main characters get together so quickly, Rating 3。5/5In what the cat dragged in we follow Paige Danvers, an event manager with zero luck in the romance department, and Josh Harlow, a newly graduated lawyer who is trying to take off in his new career。The first half of the book I absolutely adored。 I must admit, though, I am a fan of a good insta-love story。 And that is definitely what this was。 From the time Paige and Josh looked at each other, they were lost。 However, with most stories where the main characters get together so quickly, it can fall short with keeping tension。 That is where Lauren steps in。 She is Josh’s older sister。 Lauren and Paige are very good friends and even work together, and Paige would do anything to keep this friendship。 When she and Josh begin to grow closer, she worries it will affect this friendship。 This had a good setup。 Paige decided they should keep their relationship to themselves, even after they continue seeing each other for a slew of concerns。 My main issue with this book was how easy and willing Paige always seemed to drop Josh, despite what we are told she is thinking/feeling。 Later in the book, you learn why it is this way, but I think it makes their relationship feel less serious, even after everything。 I also feel that some of the other side characters could have been fleshed out some more。 Overall, it was a cute book。 I loved the cat cafe and the friendships that were shown。 They felt like people you could actually know, and I really liked that。 I listened to the audiobook and I think it also helped bring the book to life。 I would definitely be interested in reading more about this group。 。。。more

This romantic comedy was really adorable, and had me smiling and laughing frequently。 The use of the best friend's brother trope was so well done, and I loved the forbidden aspect that came along with it from Paige and Josh trying to keep it away from Lauren。Paige has hit the disaster zone in the dating world, and can't seem to catch a break。 When her best friend and boss urges her to drop dating apps and find a distraction for a bit she volunteers for a cat rescue organization。 She hadn't expec This romantic comedy was really adorable, and had me smiling and laughing frequently。 The use of the best friend's brother trope was so well done, and I loved the forbidden aspect that came along with it from Paige and Josh trying to keep it away from Lauren。Paige has hit the disaster zone in the dating world, and can't seem to catch a break。 When her best friend and boss urges her to drop dating apps and find a distraction for a bit she volunteers for a cat rescue organization。 She hadn't expected it but while there she actually meets a guy with real relationship potential。 Josh is a recent law school graduate who is putting in a ton long hours at a Manhattan law firm as he gets over a messy breakup。 He finds himself at the same volunteer event as Paige when his boss requires him to do some volunteer work。 It doesn't take long before sparks fly between them and they are drawn to each other。 The only problem in their relationship is after a steamy night together, Paige discovers Josh is Lauren’s brother and dating him would be a spectacularly awful idea especially with her track record in dating。 But they both feel too much to just walk away from each other。 They have to be careful or one small misstep could have chaos erupting amongst friends, family and their jobs。I absolutely loved this story so much, also made me what to read Lauren and Caleb's book even more now too。 It was a sweet and light rom com that had a good dose of drama amongst the sweet parts。 Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this novel。 。。。more

It was alright。 I picked this because I love books that have to do with the best friend's brother and anything that is somewhat of a forbidden romance。 While I thought the book was cute and it was a quick read there wasn't anything special about it。 I feel like the only thing that was special about the book was the cat cafe setting but other than that there wasn't anything that really made me say wow or make me think about the book days after I was done with it。 I also felt like there could have It was alright。 I picked this because I love books that have to do with the best friend's brother and anything that is somewhat of a forbidden romance。 While I thought the book was cute and it was a quick read there wasn't anything special about it。 I feel like the only thing that was special about the book was the cat cafe setting but other than that there wasn't anything that really made me say wow or make me think about the book days after I was done with it。 I also felt like there could have been more groveling involved which I would've enjoyed more if there was and if there was less of instant love but other than that if you are looking for a quick and lighthearted read this might be the book for you。 Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an EARC。 While I did receive an ARC the thoughts in this review are completely my own。 。。。more

I was given a free copy to read and review through Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, but all thoughts are my own。 Romcoms always seem to be my go to reads during the holiday season and I can never say no to a book with cats。 The chemistry between。 Josh and Paige is well thought out and their witty banter made for a few good laughs。 The group of friends that work and hang out at the Whitman Street Cat Cafe are great and I adore all of the cat content。 (If these kinds of events aren't happening IRL I was given a free copy to read and review through Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, but all thoughts are my own。 Romcoms always seem to be my go to reads during the holiday season and I can never say no to a book with cats。 The chemistry between。 Josh and Paige is well thought out and their witty banter made for a few good laughs。 The group of friends that work and hang out at the Whitman Street Cat Cafe are great and I adore all of the cat content。 (If these kinds of events aren't happening IRL someone needs to implement them quick)I did have some issues because while Paige and Josh gave perfectly good reasons to why they shouldn't pursue a relationship it didn't stop them from seeing each other。 And it also didn't stop them from constantly bringing it up。 Another problem I had is I couldn't understand why they felt they needed to hide that they were seeing each other。 The story works great without that added conflict。Whitman Street Cat Cafe is made for love so if your looking for an enjoyable and easy read I suggest giving this series a chance。 I for one can't wait to see which character at the Cat Cafe Kate McMurray writes about next。 。。。more
